First maternity consultant appointment

Today was our hospital consultant appointment as I'm a late booker. Unfortunately daddy minifootsteps couldn't get the day off work so my mam was drafted in for hand holding duty.

Before hand I was really concerned about this appointment however it was defiantly nothing to worry about. Got asked a few questions like how did you not know, lifestyle, etc blood pressure taken and that was it.

We have another scan on 2nd of October by which time he will be around 34 weeks. As long as that is normal then we don't need to go back to the consultant.

P.s. I am going to attempt to photograph some of the things we have bought for bump later tonight for a girly blog post.

The big midwife struggle

I have been debating whether to post this blog for the last week. I wrote this post in the first few days after we found out about Minifootsteps when everything was still up in the air. I have decided to post it exactly as I drafted it on my phone without any editing, purely as a reminder of all the turmoil me and the daddy went through in them first few days.

Being 26 weeks I know I need to sort my appointments soon however head off wall is a good expression right now.

I intend working right up to my due date (as yet unknown) so my mam kindly agreed to arrange my appointments. Our GP receptionist could no understand that I had not been seen yet so that was a struggle thankfully got in to see the GP the day after finding out about bump, and got a midwife referral.

Now for stage 2 as my local midwife is on holiday. I rang the midwife whilst at work and once again had to justify why we found out so late. TBH this is getting me down a little bit as ye we found out late but we want them and we will manage.

Got an appointment next week so will see how everything goes.

Proof you don't need to buy everything new.

When we started to buy everything we need for Mini-Footsteps, I thought (like many mums to be) to get good quality products we would need to buy everything new. WRONG

Walking around Mammas and Pappas (dangerous) I spotted the perfect highchair for Mini-Footsteps. However at £145 for the high chair then £50 for the accessory pack (which you have to purchase to get a functioning highchair) it was way out of our price range. You can find it here.

Feeling a bit down that we can't give Mini-footsteps the best of everything we went home. Next day my dad found this little beauty for sale off a work colleague.

Excuse the mess this was taken before we packed it all away again.

Yes its the exact same highchair for wait for it............£50! It came literally boxed up like new with most of the pieces back in their original plastic bags.

Since then we have been looking at nearly new sales, internal work sales, ebay etc and Mini-footsteps now has a lot of lovely things which haven't eaten into our all important house deposit fund.
